Description:
The Teacher should begin this lesson by giving directions. First inform the Students they will be acting out different events in the 1950's. Students are able to use improvisation, creative dance, and pantomime. Inform the students that at the end of their act the other students will guess what event in the 1950's they are preforming. Split students into five equal groups. Have a team leader from each group come to the front and choose a year within the 1950's decade. (Each year has a list of important events in US history) Allow the Students 20 minutes to create a skit re-enacting the chosen event. At the end of the 20 minute period they preform their skits while the other groups guess what they are doing.

To find events for a particular decade we suggest looking up a timeline of the desired decade. We were able to find events such as the invention of the remote control, construction of the hydrogen bomb, invention of velcro, and much more. We found the website at www.history1900s.about.com to be very helpful!
